This rebate program offsets the cost of installing a new electric heat pump combined with a new high-efficiency gas furnace. By opting for a dual fuel system, you will benefit from a reliable and efficient heating solution that keeps your home warm on the coldest days and provides cooling on hot days. This system is more than 100% efficient, making it an excellent choice for reducing your home's greenhouse gas emissions.

The rebate program offers up to $10,000 for eligible dual fuel systems that meet the following criteria:
- SEER ≥ 16; HSPF (Region IV) ≥ 10.00 or SEER2 ≥ 15.20; HSPF2 (Region IV) ≥ 8.50
- Variable speed compressor not required
- Minimum capacity of 12,000 BTU (1 ton)
- Northern Top-Up: An extra $3,000 for homes located north of and including the District of 100 Mile House (latitude 51.628°N).
- Two-Upgrade Bonus: A $300 bonus when you install a dual fuel system and make an additional Home Renovation Rebate upgrade.
- Connected Thermostat: A $150 rebate for installing an eligible connected thermostat.
To qualify for the rebate, your home must:
- Have a residential FortisBC natural gas account.
- Be a year-round primary residence at least 12 months old and be either a single-family, duplex, triplex, row home, townhouse, or mobile home on a permanent foundation.
- Not be new construction, additions, or garage upgrades.
- Submit applications within six months of the paid invoice date.
- Ensure rebates do not exceed the paid cost on the invoice.
For the dual fuel system rebate, the following conditions must be met:
- Invoices must be dated on or after July 1, 2024.
- The system must replace an existing gas furnace that is at least 10 years old.
- It must be a new central ducted air source heat pump integrated with a new compatible high-efficiency gas furnace.
- Installation must be done by a Technical Safety BC licensed gas contractor registered with the Home Performance Contractor Network.
- The system must be listed on the rebate eligible product list and meet specific efficiency and capacity requirements.
- The thermostat and outdoor temperature switch-over control must be set to region-specific temperatures.
- The system must undergo commissioning to ensure proper installation and operation.
1. Purchase an eligible air source heat pump and high-efficiency gas furnace and have them installed by a Technical Safety BC licensed contractor.
2. Complete the application form and submit it within six months of the invoice date along with the following:
- Your FortisBC gas account number
- Your email
- A scanned copy of your paid invoice
- Copy of the heat load calculation
- Copy of the commissioning sheet
- Photos of the two-pipe direct vent system (upon request)
Applications may take up to 90 days to process, so be sure to submit all required documents promptly.
