Discover significant savings and increased energy efficiency through BC Hydro's Heat Pump Rebate Program. If you're considering upgrading your existing space heating system, a heat pump could be the answer. Unlike traditional systems, heat pumps move heat from one place to another, providing a more efficient alternative to electric furnaces or baseboard heaters. With rebates of up to $2,000, homeowners can enjoy improved comfort while contributing to a greener home.
Eligibility and Product Requirements
Ensure your upgrade qualifies by checking specific eligibility criteria. The heat pump must be listed on the rebate-eligible heat pump list and replace a primary electric heating system. This includes hard-wired systems like electric baseboards, radiant ceiling, radiant floors, or forced-air furnaces. The heat pump must be appropriately sized to serve as the primary heating system, with a capacity to heat at least 50% of the home throughout the entire heating season. Additionally, products must meet standards such as Heating Seasonal Performance Factor (HSPF) and Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio (SEER), with minimum requirements specified for each set of standards.
Installation and Application Process
As a Qualified Home Performance Contractor Network (HPCN) member, we are certified to install systems with the BC Hydro grant. Emergency replacements and additions to existing systems do not qualify for rebates. The application deadline requires submission within six months of the invoice date, with the only supporting document needed being the invoice itself. The application process is straightforward, and bonus rebates ranging from $300 to $2,000 can be obtained by bundling upgrades. This program, part of the home renovation rebate initiative, is a collaboration between the Government of B.C., BC Hydro, and FortisBC, aiming to support energy-efficient upgrades for British Columbians. Don't miss the opportunity to enhance your home's efficiency and comfort while taking advantage of these generous rebates. Apply now and enjoy the benefits of a more sustainable heating and cooling system.

The Power of Heat Pumps: Environmentally Friendly and Efficient
Discover the benefits of heat pumps, efficient systems that use electricity to transfer heat between the indoors and outdoors. These climate-friendly solutions reduce heating emissions by up to 97%, providing year-round comfort with both heating and cooling capabilities. Operated by electricity, heat pumps ensure a comfortable indoor environment while improving air quality by dehumidifying and filtering indoor pollutants, dust, pollen, and allergens.
Choosing the Right Heat Pump and Accessing Rebates
The rebate values and eligibility criteria depend on your location, current heating system, and the chosen heat pump upgrade. To guide you through this process, registered contractors from the Home Performance Contractor Network can assist in identifying the most suitable heat pump, providing quotes, and ensuring installations meet the CleanBC Better Homes and Home Renovation Rebate Program requirements. Take advantage of these rebates, contributing to a cleaner, more efficient home. Visit the respective rebate web pages for detailed information and additional offers.
